How to Choose First Fitness Equipments

Tips on How to Choose Your First Exercise Equipment

If you have been using exercise equipment for some time, you will be familiar with most of them if not all. But if you are a newbie, you might be flabbergasted with the names, especially those of newer concepts. There is the fitness equipment elliptical, consisting of cycles and contraptions that turn; the gym fitness equipment, the treadmills and such, and of course the workout equipment which are the barbells, dumbbells, bench press and the like. Of course they are also interchangeable in terms of use. The problem is which to choose when you are new to the fitness craze, though it should not be of too much concern if you consider some factors.

Decide what you want to develop: Some people want to body build and therefore improve their muscles. So they use equipment that develops the abdominal muscles or abs, biceps, triceps and so on. Cardio exercises use a different set of equipment, as do plain fitness exercises which may seek to shed weight or develop some body stamina. Look at the mirror to help you decide, but better yet, consult your doctor. He should know better.

Visit a gym: In a place where you can see people doing what you want to do may convince you what to have. Ask the trainer for what purposes each equipment is, or you can tell him your story and he will explain. They would love to have another paying customer and will try to answer your questions to convince you to join. The object is to know which equipment fit your needs. List them down.

Size up your house: Measure the space you intend to place your exercise equipment and see if they can fit there. If you have a spacious exercise room no problem; otherwise, prioritize which to have first. Rearrange your long list and shortlist the priority items in order of importance.

Try the equipment out: If you got friends or acquaintances who have the equipment you want, try to convince them to lend a few to you. Or seek permission to exercise with him if you can for a little while. He might find having an exercise buddy a capital idea and you get your tryout. Or try some trial membership at a discounted fee at the gym for a month or so.

Comparison shop: All the while visit shops for the exercise equipment you need, noting brands, models and prices. Do not overlook the Internet as sites there sometimes offer tremendous bargains you can drive for. Consider also refurbished or used equipment and compare their prices.

Perform financial fitness exercises: Feel your wallet and tap your bankbook to see if you got enough. If you have to use your credit card, do so only up to one-fourth of your limits and one-half your disposable income. You cannot eat your equipment should you need your card for more expedient requirements.
